Marcello Mazzoni was born in Reggio Emilia and started his piano studies in the local musical institute "Achille Peri". He graduated at the Monteverdi's Conservatory in Bolzano and continued his intensive studies at the Imola Academy with renowned professors and concertists such as F. Scala, L. Berman, A. Lonquich, R. Risaliti, L. Lortie, J. Achucarro and P. Rattalino. He also attended the Masterclasses of some of the most famous musicians of our time (S. Richter, M. Pollini, L. Lortie ecc.). Mazzoni studied composition with Armando Gentilucci and attended the faculty of Musicology in Parma University.
Mazzoni has given concerts as a soloist with orchestras in concert halls and festivals such as: Auditorium Paganini in Parma, Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia, Greppi Hall in Bergamo, Auditorium San Domenico in Foligno, Teatro Sociale in Amelia (Ameria Festival), Monsignani Palace - Imola Academy (festival Bach and Bartok), Teatro Comunale in Belluno, Sala Maffeiana in Verona, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Aula Magna in Sapienza University of Rome (IUC), Philarmonia in Perm (Russia), Saint Petersburg Conservatory Hall, Gasteig Carl Orff Saal in Munich, Theatre Der Jugend in Munich, Hong Kong Concert Hall, Bartok Hall Hungary etc.
He has given recitals and concerts in Italy and abroad, playing with soloists such as B. Huang, A. Martini, F. Manara, M. Fornaciari, A. Griminelli, S. Ganassi, M. Belli, U. Ughi, O. Semchuk, O. Mandozzi, S. Korkeala, K. Weigel and others.
He frequently plays as a soloist with renowned ensembles including the Ensemble Berlin - The Berliner Philharmoniker Soloists, a collaboration that started in 2015 celebrating dates in the Imola Festival "From Bach to Bartòk", in Reggio Emilia at the "Festival dei pianisti Italiani", the Camerata RCO Royal Concergebow Orchestra and I Virtuosi Italiani with whom he performed at the Maffeiana Hall in Verona starting a friendship that led to a Russian tour in 2014, Wiener Concert-Verein etc..
In 2016 Marcello Mazzoni started collaborating with actor- singer Beppe Servillo for the theatre piece "Histoire du Soldat" of Stravinsky, performing in the most important Italian theatres throughout Italy.
In 2017 Marcello Mazzoni has participated in a lot of prestigious projects like the tournée of Wiener Concert-Verein with whom he performed concertos from the Mozart repertoire in Italian and European Theatres, and the two piano concertos by J.S. Bach in collaboration with pianists Andrea Padova and Maurizio Baglini with the I.C. Chamber Orchestra. This second project starts in Italy and continues to Hong Kong.
Also this year in collaboration with Limen Music, Mazzoni will finish recording four CD-DVDs: the first dedicated to Liszt Noir, the second to the three sonatas for piano and violin by J. Brahms with Silvia Mazzon, the third with the complete chamber production for piano and strings by J. Brahms and the last one Mozart piano quartets with the Camerata RCO Royal Concertgebow Orchestra.
In 2013 he was named permanent member of the Steinway Artists, together with notable musicians such as Vladimir Horowitz, Martha Argerich and Maurizio Pollini.
Marcello Mazzoni is a piano teacher at the "A. Peri" Conservatory in Reggio Emilia, member of C.D.I. of Valli Teatre (Reggio Emilia), artistic director of "Incontro alla musica" season in the Cavallerizza Theatre in Reggio Emilia and the founder of the successful "Festival dei pianisti Italiani" in the same city.
